La Tierra del Olvido

ALBUM COVER / BRANDING

La Tierra del Olvido is an album by Colombian singer Carlos Vives. Roughly translated as “The Land of the Forgotten”, the album is often interpreted as a nostalgic ode to the singer’s homeland, highlighting the Colombia’s many contrasts — old and new, rich and poor, happy and sad. This handmade design concept aims to capture some of these contrasts while positioning the album as the timeless symbol of Colombia it has become.

HANDMADE PROCESS

I covered real fruits, some intact and some cut in half, in gold foil to represent the contrast between old and new and rich and poor. I then arranged the gold-covered fruits and photographed them on a black background.
